About Fox Valley Arborist
So there's a tree in your yard that's making you nervous. Maybe it's the big ash that's been leaning a little more every year. Maybe a storm just dropped a branch on your fence and you're out there wondering who to call at 7am on a Saturday. Or maybe you just love that old oak in the backyard and want to make sure it stays healthy for another fifty years.
Whatever brought you here, welcome. Fox Valley Arborist is a free directory of tree service professionals across the Fox Valley — Appleton, Oshkosh, Neenah, Menasha, Green Bay, and the surrounding communities. We built it because finding a good tree crew shouldn't require three hours of Googling, a Nextdoor thread, and a prayer.
Why Trees Are a Big Deal Around Here
The Fox Valley is full of beautiful, mature trees — and that means a lot of homeowners dealing with real tree situations. Emerald ash borer has hit hard. Summer storms roll through and leave branches everywhere. That silver maple your grandparents planted is now a monster that's growing into the power lines.
Trees are personal. People get attached to them — and rightfully so. A healthy, well-maintained tree adds thousands to your property value and makes your yard feel like home. But when a tree becomes a safety hazard or starts damaging your roof, you need someone who knows what they're doing. Not just someone with a chainsaw and a truck.
What You'll Find Here
Browse local tree pros by the kind of work you need — removal, trimming, stump grinding, emergency storm damage, lot clearing, or general tree health. Each listing includes the stuff that actually helps you decide: what they specialize in, how long they've been in business, and what their customers have to say about them.
We also put together guides on topics like what tree removal actually costs in Wisconsin, how to know when a tree needs to come down versus just a good trim, and what to look for when hiring an arborist. The kind of stuff that's genuinely useful before you pick up the phone.
How Estimate Requests Work
If you see a tree pro you want to contact, you can send an estimate request through our site. We'll pass your info along so they can reach out to you directly. That's it — no surprise calls from five different companies, no selling your info to a lead network. One request, one contractor, your terms.
How We Grade Tree Pros
Every tree service professional in the directory gets a letter grade from A to F. We do this so you can quickly tell the difference between a well-established company with certified arborists on staff and someone who just bought a wood chipper last week. Here's what we look at:
- Customer Reviews — what homeowners are saying, and how consistently they're saying it
- Credentials — ISA certification, insurance, bonding, licensing
- Experience — years in the tree care business
- Profile Completeness — verified contact info, website, photos of their work
- Specialization — how focused they are on tree work specifically (vs. a general landscaper who also trims branches)
What the Grades Mean
- A — Outstanding: top-notch reviews, fully credentialed, years of proven tree work
- B — Strong: solid reputation with good credentials
- C — Average: decent but limited track record or information
- D — Below Average: sparse info or very few reviews
- F — Insufficient: not enough data to form a real opinion
Nobody can buy a higher grade. Our rankings are based entirely on publicly available information — reviews, licensing records, business registrations, and similar sources.
